The Tristesse Center

Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Support Group
Support for People with Oral, Head and Neck Cancer is a patient directed self-help organization dedicated to raising awareness and meeting the needs of oral, head and neck cancer patients. The New York-based non-profit was founded in 1991 by an oral cancer survivor. Only 4% - 5% of all diagnosed cancers are oral, head and neck, but the problems associated with these cancers are very difficult. The patients deal with treatments that can be life-threatening, but also can cause changes in speech, smell, taste, swallowing, and possible alterations in facial apperance.
